First owner was according to the certificate of the builder himself - George Brough!

A motorcycle of the Brough brand was often referred to as the Rolls Royce of two-wheelers ("Rolls-Royce of Motorcycles") and equipped with a variety of engines: especially with the engines of J.A.P. from Tottenham or with the racing engines of the company Matchless from Plumstead.

These strong engines were also the reason for a special Brough guarantee: the guarantee to reach the speed of 100 mph.

The engine of our issued Brough Superior with hairpin valve springs, coupled with a very strong torque and the overall highest quality workmanship of this bike would be it today - over 85 years after first registration! - still make it possible to complete our 2nd Timmelsjoch road to the highest point.

This gem of British engineering by the accidental death of even today known adventurer, officer, secret agent and writer T.E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), who crashed in 1935 with a Brough Superior SS 100.
